Bravo!!! I am 100% Sicillian and I am so happy to hear the story of your turning down the “Godfather” Game promotion….WONDERFUL!!!!! I hate that we are seen as just Mafia… My relatives in Sicily are farmers.. simple.. happy … honest folks…. now lets make a movie about that!!

Thank you, Mr. Zappala for speaking out on this subject! It’s about time someone is bringing attention to the stereotyping of our people, ancestors and culture. I am constantly having to teach my impressionable fourteen-year old son that sicilans are not a bunch of criminal minded thugs, and that his ancestors were all farmers and viticulturists. He too fell prey to the lure of this disgusting Godfather video game, but it’s not welcome in this house. I’ve ridded my home of one of my favorite movies of all time, Goodfellas, because I finally realized what a horrible image it was creating and what a bad influence it is on young people. My great-grandfather Salvatore Anzalone came to this country in the late 1800’s and worked the land in the southern US just as his family had for centuries in Sicily. He would be saddened to see what’s become of our image today. It takes great courage to stand up to Hollywood producers (especially Italian-American producers) actors and fans of this aweful exploitation. I appreciate your strength of character and am thankful for your work to motivate others to learn and educate people on true Sicilian culture and Italian-America!
